A newer and less known about social networking site called foursquare has recently caught my attention. A lot of people either don't use it or are uninterested in it because its another form like twitter and facebook that some people might feel gives too much information out. Foursquare lets people know where you are and what you are probably doing because of your location. I have my pros and cons for it and heres what I think.
Pros, If you check in to a restaurant or bar with a special on foursquare you can get discounts and save money. Entertaining to see where your friends are every so often. Now for my cons, way too much information is going out if you are letting everyone know where you are and when. People just don't care enough in my opinion to want to sign up just to see where people are. That is where the discounts come into play, once I heard about the discounts I was much more interested in checking in to places on foursquare because who doesn't want to save some dollars to market your current destination by just checking in through a simple process. Anyone else used foursquare before?
Some of my friends have used the application before on their phones. Although you can get some great discounts and save plenty of money, the information given out is pretty ridiculous. I would say it's a little more invasive than both Facebook and Twitter (hard to believe) but definately has its perks. Although I don't think I'll ever make an account, it is truly helpful to have a good friend with one!
ReplyDeleteDylan, I have never used foursquare but you have now made me interested. You are right, who doesn't want to save some money. Foursquare seems like a simple but effective way to network. It is a good idea to get people to join with the discounts. I will definitely be checking out the site
