Pop up shops

Within the past couple years two former classmates from my high school have started up a clothing line in NYC. The clothing line is called Ethik and is still in the early stages of becoming successful but they are well on their way in marketing the company. So far they are on twitter and Facebook and have made most of their money through their website. Besides social marketing they have entered the market through opening pop up shops where you can rent out a empty store and sell your products for a day or a week depending on how long you want your pop up shop to last. Ethik has some cool clothing that you can check out here at http://ethikny.com/.

  1. I think pop up shops are an interesting idea. I've never heard about these before, but they sound like they could be handy for finding specific markets. I'm curious to see where these pop up shops are and if any are near by. I'd assume that bigger pop up shops would be seasonal stores such as Halloween stores, but I wonder what smaller kinds of companies use them as well.

  2. I checked out their website and I think it's really intriguing and a clean design. I'm not very familiar with pop-up shops either, but I think it's a great idea and a good way to take advantage of testing out different locations. For example, if a company is considering opening another location somewhere, they may consider renting space for a week or so, and seeing how much interest there is at that spot.
